How to remove sticker residue from textiles

To remove sticker residues from textiles and clothing, effective methods include the use of ethanol alcohol, which helps to dissolve the glue, or Axel Sgrasso, which is specially designed to remove greasy surfaces but is also very successful with traces of glue. Before using these methods, it's important to check the garment's care label to make sure the material can handle the cleaning process. It is also advisable to test the product first on a less visible part of the garment to prevent unwanted color changes or damage.

Ethanol alcohol

Ethanol is an excellent solvent that can dissolve sticky substances. It's a quick and easy way to remove sticker residue from most surfaces and fabrics, but as it can damage some fabrics it requires extra caution.

To use Ethanol alcohol:

  1. Apply alcohol to a clean cloth or cotton ball.
  2. Rub a cloth or cotton ball over the remaining sticker, applying pressure as needed.
  3. Continue rubbing until the glue residue is gone.
  4. Rinse the area with water to remove excess alcohol.

    Axel Sgrasso or similar degreaser

Axel Sgrasso is a commercial degreaser that can effectively remove sticker or sticker adhesive residue. While it's a good solution for tough debris, it can contain harmful chemicals that can be harsh on surfaces.

    To use Axel Sgrasso:

    1. Apply a small amount of Sgrasso to the remaining glue.
    2. Wait a few minutes
    3. Rub the cloth over the sticker residue, applying pressure as needed.
    4. Follow the product instructions carefully.
    5. Test on a small, inconspicuous area first to make sure the product does not damage the surface of the fabric.

Degreasers are our general recommendation for a good dissolution of adhesive residues from stickers, but for cars we recommend them only for glass surfaces.

Each of these methods can do the job of removing sticker residue, so choose the one that best suits the surface you're cleaning, and just remember to always test on a small area first. A little patience, a little care, plus your solvent of choice and you'll be removing that pesky residue in no time.
